Calhoun’s growlers

The story behind the growlers originates from when children used to have to take their fathers’ and grandfathers’ jugs to the local pubs to fill them up with beer as part of their daily routine. When the children would splash beer out of the jug their fathers were said to have growled at them. And so the term “growler” was born.

Calhoun’s offers its own high-quality glass growlers that are imported from Germany. The growlers hold just under the equivalent to a six-pack of beer and can be purchased from $18 to $25. During Happy Hour they can be filled to take home for $5.50 and during normal hours for $7.50. Close to 20% of the beer sold at Calhoun’s leaves in Growlers.
